In the Beginning

We Founded Practical Diversity Associates in 2011 with the goal of focusing on Multicultural Competence and the experiences of diversity professionals. We began focusing on diversity and inclusion before it was such a focus point for many organizations

Advancing the Cause

The impact of the Ferguson decision to not charge officer Wilson in the shooting death of Michael Brown, the Freddie Gray killing and protests on College campuses thrust diversity and inclusion back into mainstream media. We focused on educating professionals on why these sorts of decisions can be impacted by a lack of diversity in law enforcement administration. There have been many incidents since our founding that have shaped this work and we remain optimistic about DEI

Continued Development

The election of Donald Trump as President put a new focus on the race relations of the United States of America and it’s original sin of slavery. We focused on helping organizations that may have been historically complicit to racism with biased mascots or brand ambassadors shift to more inclusive representations. Politics have become a contact sport and we are responsive to this shift through active and proactive training pushing back against DEI opponents

Creating a Curriculum

After hosting countless workshops and training sessions we decided that we would expand the reach of our impact by designing a curriculum that could be taught to businesses and professionals all across the world, not just in our sessions. Our re-imagined curriculum focuses on asset based DEI trainings.  Participants will leave with the Knowledge, Skills, and Awareness on how to address a range of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion topics

Teaching Others

We will officially relaunch the new web site complete with the core curriculum, free resources, , blog posts, videos and more in 2024. The new site will be a centralized place for learning, web events and way for organizations to contact us directly.
