MY STRENGTHS

When someone says “focus on your strengths,” it’s easy to read that as “just do what you’re good at and you won’t need to improve.” But that’s what Stanford professor and researcher Carol Dweck calls a fixed mindset: Believing that your talents are innate gifts. That’s opposed to Dweck’s growth mindset: Believing that your talents can be developed. The talents that I am constantly developing to become a better diversity leader allow me to inject into our courses:

  • Information packed practical training.
  • Practical learning experiences with interactive examples.
  • Practical quizzes at the end of every lesson.
  • Practical training examples that relate to the real world.

MY STRENGTHS

While we all have areas of improvement. I choose to focus on my strengths, since we as humans tend to see weaknesses as more changeable than strengths, we’re more inclined to try to improve where we are weak. But various studies have shown that when we focus on developing our strengths, we grow faster than when trying to improve our weaknesses. Plus, people who use their strengths are happier, less stressed, and more confident. My strengths allow our courses to be:

  • Information packed practical training.
  • Practical with creative approaches to learning
  • Practical assignments that appeal to multiple learning styles.
  • Practical frameworks that support individual strength enhancement
